Math the Band…love IT!

A band with good beats and humor trumps the grumpy good beat band any day of the week. And in this case Math the Band has won the war with fun crazy dancey toe tappen keyboard rifts and silly sometimes my favorite irrelevant lyrics. Plus they put their bad reviews on their myspace page. One has to admire the bands confidence to say “Hey some people think we suck but we still love you”

A8. Yes, I think there is something to it that is quite mysterious! I believe the planets have a definite influence over our basic personality. I just really love it!

A9. I AM A COFFEE ADDICT. it’s really ridiculous. Every morning I have to have coffee otherwise I freak out!!! I only really need it in the morning, but I love it, i am a LOVER of that bean.

A10. I think when I first saw Tori Amos, I was very young, and it made such a deep impact on my life. I remeber sitting in the theater and balling my eyes out, wiping loads of snot all over my chair becuase i just ran out of room on my sleve. i was just SO moved by her raw emotional honesty and balls and insanity and also vulnerable, Openess with the audience. That forever changed and inlfuenced me.

Isn’t she amazing! And although The Happy Hollows are a rockn band thanks to RFSL a while ago (months and months) I was able to download Sarah’s song Driver. Its amazing I listen to it at least once every other day, especially while getting ready it just puts me in a good mood. If you can track down that song do it! NOW!!

ALSO The Happy Hollows will be having their first Album release next Friday, September 4th at Spaceland. Please go out and support this well deserved achievement.

Learned about The Spinto Band via Last.fm. They were added to the rotation and I happily welcomed them into my Library. Thier latest album “Moonwink” has an innocent quality capturing the feeling of a summer love or beach vacation. When the old station wagon was packed to the brim and in the midst of teen angst one rolled their eyes at the thought of spending the entire summer away from all your friends and stuck with the family. But little did you know that the cutest boy/girl you had ever seen would only be a few beach houses away. The fair would roll into town and as the two of you danced in the sea breeze and shared cotton candy, The Spinto Band played in the background. The Soundtrack of the 1940’s summer you wish you had, but never did!

Q1. How many times have you been pulled over? And why?
A1.too many to remember. the most memorable is being pulled over from a hospital bed after wrecking my car in 2004. I was issued a ticket for running a red signal while supine, staples fresh in my head. To make it worse, the signal had malfunctioned, causing the running and the wreck. I haven’t owned a car since.

Q2. Is your mother a good cook? If so what your favorite meal?
A2.yes, she cooks a mean rock fish.

*UPDATE 12/2/12- Three years later I am still a huge fan of So Many Wizards and now all of its talented members. When I first saw Nima play the Silverlake Lounge, the same night this post was originally published. It was him on stage with programmed television sets that played disjointed scenes from old movies. With his friend assisting on guitar or pull string toy for a few tunes. So Many Wizards was Nima’s inspired music invention which has grown from televised band mates to live flesh rocking out on stage. I’ve loved watching the band grow and evolve into one of LA’s favorite local bands. From rowdy mosh pits in Pasadena to packed shows during their Echo residency, SMW has garnered an international fan base, thousands of followers, and rave write ups online and on the gloss (glossy paper that is- printed press). Well deserved, hard earned, and a pleasure to all who has enjoyed their music. p.s. Did I forget to mention Lou Reed has called him up regarding the song Nico, I don’t know the details but apparently it was played on a radio show. Although I do think I heard this story for the first time when we were chatting at Spaceland, and yes it was still called Spaceland then….or I think it was.
